A brave woman is about to have her head shaved to help raise money for a charity which cared for her best friend in her time of need.
Mandy Robinson, of Chapel St Leonards, will have her shoulder-length crimson locks lopped off in the hope of raising £1,000 for Macmillan on June 4.
“I thought about having my head shaved one night and realised it would be a great way to help raise money for charity,” said Mandy (Robbo) Robinson.
In around 12 weeks, Mandy will unveil her new look after having it snipped at Hayden’s Restaurant, Ingoldmells where she works.
The date of the hair cutalso holds a deeper significance as Karen Cook, her friend, sadly died from lung cancer on that date in the calendar, leaving two sons and two grandchildren.
“I’ve raised money before, about three years ago, when I did the Race For Life, also in memory of Karen, but I’m hoping to raise even more this time,” added Mandy.
So far Mandy has managed to raise around £200 towards her aim but is hoping to gain a few more donations during the next few weeks.
“I would be really grateful if anyone could sponsor me via my Just Giving link as it really is going to a wonderful cause,” said Mandy. “Those of you who knew Karen will know how fantastic she was. We all still miss her every day and those of you that didn’t know her, you really missed out”.
