THE IMPORTANCE of maintaining funding for the voluntary sector was demonstrated to key figures during a recent emergency planning exercise.
South Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (SLCVS) invited councillors, health professionals and MP for Boston and Skegness Mark Simmonds to the event to highlight the problems that cuts to voluntary sector investments would bring to the community.
Participants were presented with a series of worsening scenarios to test what would happen if budget cuts were to seriously hit the voluntary sector. Mr Simmonds gave his full support and urged decision makers not to forget the vital role of the voluntary sector.
