The Village, Church Farm, Skegness, played host to the Skegness Area Voluntary Sector Forum recently.

Around 20 local groups benefited from a packed agenda of information at the museum, with information on grants and advice on how to get the best out of your community radio and training on funding applications.

Sue Fortune, Grants Manager for Lincolnshire Community Foundation attended and gave a presentation on the various funding programmes on offer. Sue said: “The Foundation manages several programmes and awards grants of many millions each year.

Local groups and individuals may qualify and I would suggest people call for advice before filing in an application form as this often saves a lot of time”.

The Foundation can be contacted at www.lincolnshirecf.co.uk or by calling 01529 305825.

County Linx Radio gave a presentation on the success of their internet radio station and reported on how their listening numbers are on the increase and have recently applied for an FM license.

The radio station offers a wide range of tastes in easy listening music and regularly broadcasts community information and reports on what is on locally.

You can listen to County Linx Radio by visiting www.Countylinxradio.co.uk.

During the afternoon, Linda Grant, Business Development Manager for Linkage Trust also offered a bite-sized training session on project planning and how to meet funders expectation on outcomes.

“This is always the tricky bit when applying for funding,” said Linda.

Marie Chapman and Adam Dixon both of Lincolnshire Council for Voluntary Services (CVS) organise the quarterly forums in the area to help provide networking, information sharing and training events for the voluntary sector.

The next meeting will be held in July, in Skegness and the date and venue will be advertised on the CVS website found at www.lincolnshirecvs.org.uk and in the local press when it is confirmed.
