A Little Steeping business has been deemed as the ‘focal point of the community’ and ‘going beyond’ to help its customers in a student’s project.
Matthew Geldard, a 15-year-old from the village, was set the challenge through his business studies GCSE, to investigate a local business and he decided to focus his efforts on the village store nearby.
“I chose the shop because I felt it was important to the village and it met customer needs,” said Matthew.
The student, who attends Queen Elizabeth Grammar School at Horncastle, began his investigation by conducting surveys in the local area.
“I was happy my primary research was confirmed as I feel the owners go above and beyond to meet their customers’ needs,” added Matthew.
The aspiring business entrepreneur feels The Village Store, run by Barbara and Mick House, is the ‘focal point of the community’ and the owners deserve to be recognised for their commitment.
And joint owner of the shop, Barbara thought the positive report from the youngster was great. She said: “Matthew is a really lovely young man and all that met him thought the same.”
Matthew is hoping to continue at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School at Horncastle to study Alevels at sixth form after his GCSEs.
