Police have urged horse owners to beware after a suspicious incident in the Old Bolingbroke area.

Over two evenings around October 16 to 20 two horses on a farm in the Old Bolingbroke area had their tail hair cut.

About 24 inches (or 60 centimetres) of hair was cut from each animal.

“There have been similar incidents across the UK in the past with the hair believed to be taken to be used in the manufacture of rocking horses amongst other things,” said Constable Andrew Price.

“Please may I ask that any suspicious vehicles or persons be reported via 101.

“I would also like to appeal to any horse owners to report any similar incidents as I suspect this has happened elsewhere and not always been reported.

“We are keen to tackle this issue. Any information about such thefts is sought,” he added.

If you have any information email or call 101 or via Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
