A GIFTED young singer was given a dream opportunity to record her vocal talents at a professional studio as a treat for excelling in her recent exams.

Skegness Grammar School student Heather Vokins recently recorded nine tracks and a music video at Tabby Road Studios near Lincoln.

The wonderful opportunity to make the most of the studio’s top-of-the-range equipment was provided by Heather’s grandparents as a treat for receiving a distinction in her grade three singing exams she sat at the Piano Academy, Skegness.

Heather was delighted to be given the chance to produce a CD of her favourite tracks that she can treasure forever.

She said: “It was amazing - a really great experience.

“It was interesting to see how everything works and to actually record a CD.

“At first I was a little bit worried listening to my voice but it gave me lots of confidence and helped me to think about the way I deliver my vocals so that I can make it sound more powerful.”

Heather’s nan Julie Tuplin accompanied her throughout the amazing experience and was equally pleased with how the day worked out.

“It was absolutely brilliant,” she said.

Heather recorded a selection of tracks by her favourite artists including Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran and even had time to record a music video of her singing in the sound booth.

Once 15-year-old Heather finishes her education at the grammar school she hopes to enrol at a performing arts college to help develop her talents further before starring in West End shows or as an entertainer on cruise ships.

The talented young star has already graced the stage on numerous occasions performing with Janice Sutton Theatre School in its summer and Christmas shows.
