A total of 876 appointments with doctors and nurses were missed across the Beacon Medical Practice branches in July - a sharp increase from the previous month.

At the latest meeting of the Beacon Patient Participation Group, members were shocked to learn the number of people who did not attend their appointments in July.

There were 202 missed appointments at Chapel St Leonards, 111 at Ingoldmells and 563 at Skegness.

One possible reason suggested was that it might have been due to the start of the holiday period coinciding with ‘excellent weather’, and the August figures may show whether it is a blip or a ‘worrying trend’.

The group wishes to persuade as many people as possible to register for text reminders by filling in a form.
