After a difficult year living with cancer, a couple have won some special relaxation time on a luxury spa break .
Dave Moss and wife Kerry, from Willoughby, will experience some well deserved pampering after winning a competition to reward unsung heroes.
Dave, who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, was nominated by his mother-in law Sally Gray.
Both Dave, 41, and Kerry, 29, will now be able to enjoy a relaxing day at Eden Hall Day Spa in Newark.
The spa ran a social media campaign for people to nominate those who had inspired them with their grit and determination.
Sally, from Alford, put forward dad of three Dave, who has continued to battle cancer while helping look after his children, aged 11 to just 18 months old.
Sally said in a message on Twitter: “They both had a terrible year and both could use the day at Eden Hall very much.”
Kerry said: “In 2011, Dave was diagnosed with a rare cancer which seemed to progress very quickly. Last year we were in and out of hospital and he has been on intensive treatment because of low platelets in his blood.
“It has been very difficult as we have had numerous hospital visits in London and more locally, and we have three children too – and we didn’t want anything to affect what they are doing.
She added: “I am really grateful to mum for putting us forward for the day at Eden Hall. It will be lovely – a day which we can both enjoy.”
The spa was overwhelmed by the number of recommendations of people who deserved to win.
Charlotte Bridges, of Eden Hall Day Spa, said: “We had an excellent response to the campaign and we were overwhelmed by people’s heart-warming stories of how they battled illness or difficult personal situations.
“It was incredibly difficult to choose just one person, but in the end we had a unanimous decision.”
