Communications to Pilgrim Hospital for general enquiries will be cut for ‘essential’ maintenance for about six hours tonight (Wednesday).

The work, which will ‘shutdown’ telecommunications will start from 10pm and the hospital is advising relatives who wish to make patient welfare checks, to do so before 9.30pm.

A spokesman for United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust said: “After this time, we ask that members of the public ring the normal switchboard number, 01205 364801, where you will then be directed to switchboard at Lincoln or Grantham who will be able to deal with your query.

“We would ask that if your query is not an emergency, please call the hospital as normal tomorrow (Thursday).

“We are making every effort to ensure that patient safety and care remains the number one priority and extra senior clinical nursing staff will be on hand to provide any extra support required during this time.”

They added: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The shutdown does not include 999 calls – so people should treat emergency calls as normal.
