Health & Safety Executive to prosecute Botton’s Pleasure Beach over Surf Rider amusement park crash

A court case date has been set to investigate the events that unfolded when a ride at Botton’s Pleasure Beach partially collapsed nearly two years ago.

The Surf Rider crashed into the ground on August 30, 2011 while crammed with holidaymakers, injuring seven of the 22 on-board. Two days after the collapse of the ride it was dismantled and Health & Safety officers carried out an investigation into the cause.

The HSE has now revealed it is pressing charges under section three of the Heath and Safety at Work Act against Pleasure Beach Amusements Skegness Ltd,with a date set for July 26 at Skegness Magistrates’ Court.
