THE organsiers behind this year’s Skegness Football Funds event are hoping to double or event treble last year’s fundraising total.
At last year’s inuaugural event, a whopping £1,500 was raiseed for the Butterfly Hospice.
But this time round it is hoped to far exceed that tally, and raise vital cash for the Butterfly Hospice and Lincolnshire Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event, which was created by local Jongleurs comedian and entertainer Stefan Michaels, centres on a football match between Skegness Town Legends and the Skegness All Stars.
This year’s fundraisers begins when gates open at Skegness Town’s stadium at 11.30am on Sunday, August 21.
Tickets are £3 per adult, and kids go free.
As well as the football match, there will also be a sponsored Zumba on the pitch with Michelle Dunne.
Other attractions include donkey rides, bouncy castles, entertainment, music and prizes.
There will also be a lot of stalls, with massage tents, items to buy and two huge raffles with fantastic prizes.
In the evening the aftermatch party kicks off at the Lilywhites Club with Stefan Michaels and Geoff Hill out to prove if girls are better than boys with some hilarious games and super prizes.
Vicki Jay will also perform and, by popular demand, top mentalists and hypnotist Ian Dee will appear.
Stefan said: “I wanted to create a brand and event that brings together our community in support of local cancer charities and raises the profile of cancer and the local support.available.
“The massive increase in support and people getting involved this year has been staggering and goes to show the real spirit of the people in this town.
“It will be a great day out and you won’t find a better line-up for an evening show anywhere else.
“As for the match, last year’s was a heated affair and got tough.”
Stefan would like to thank all the people and businesses which made the event possible. These include Microclean, who funded the event, Plumbtech who sponsored the kits, and Skegness Town. You can buy tickets on the door or in advance at Skegness Town, New Look or Microclean.
