A water company has argued that ‘surface water drains’ aren’t to blame for flooding which blighted a group of Skegness residents’ lives.

Those hit hard by the flash storms, four months ago, were calling on local authorities and water companies for answers regarding why the water build up in Sunningdale Close, Skegness was so bad compared to other areas.

But Anglian Water, which promised to keep residents updated after it conducted its own survey, has said drains were found to be in ‘good working order’.

John Clare from Anglian Water said: “We’re sorry if residents feel they haven’t been kept informed. We are currently in the process of contacting people whose homes were affected to let them know the results of our promised survey of the area’s surface water drains. These were found to be in good working condition and there were no problems that might have led to the flooding.”

The flooding has occurred twice in five years and residents’ fear gaining house insurance may be difficult if it happens again.
