A school near Skegness welcomed a host of popular characters from literature as part of World Book Day.

Pupils at St Helena’s CofE Primary School, in Willoughby, were invited to dress as their favourite character from a book to mark the annual event.

World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, and reading.

It aims to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books.

More than 100 countries take part in World Book Day, which was held for the 19th time in 2016.
