Solo and ensemble songs were performed in Spilsby Market Place by music students from King Edward VI Academy recently.

The Year 10s were part of the “Love Your Local Market” initiative, which aims to put the market at the heart of the community.

Alex Rossiter, Jack Reavy, Alysha Le’Gate, Shauna Lea Dawson, Tia Rose Lawley, Katie Frost and Aimee Reeson sang and provided accompaniment on the guitar while members of the public browsed a range of interesting stalls.

Music teacher Charlotte Burton said: “The music created an ambient and entertaining atmosphere.

“The students took the opportunity to sing well known songs as well as their own GCSE music examination compositions.

“They found the whole experience extremely enjoyable and were excited to share their talents with the community.

“The event provided a platform on which they could gain in confidence and refine their performance skills which will be highly beneficial when they undertake their forthcoming music examinations.”

Esther Benson, operations support manager for the event, said: “The students’ musical talents were exceptional.”
