CHILDREN at a pre-school in Alford can now fuel their imagination with the arrival of a fantastic activity pirate ship.

Qwackers Pre School in Hanby Lane, Alford were delighted to be able to buy the new ship which was made possible through a £1,000 donation from the Alford Round Table.

The timber framed vessel, which was from PlayDays in Wragby, is being used for picnics, reading stories, performing and building hide out dens.

Frances Johnson, Manager at Qwackers, said: “The staff and committee are very grateful for the generous donation from the Alford Round Table.”

The pre school had been fundraising for some time through coffee mornings and this cash boost enabled them to purchase the ship sooner.

Frances added: “It will be a very well used piece of equipment and it is something we will continue to use for many years.”

Ross Hamilton, Chairman of Alford Round Table, said: “Qwackers is close to many of our hearts and we were delighted to be able to help them.”

The Round Table is welcoming enquiries from charities in the Alford community who would like assistance with funding. Call 01507 466176.
