Five talented young players learning their skills with the Alford Silver Band have enjoyed success in the Associated Boards of Music grade examinations.
Thomas Brook and sisters Olivia and Phoebe Willey achieved grade four on the cornet, Kira Roberts gained a distinction in grade three euphonium and Rebecca Wilkinson achieved grade two cornet.
Band chairman Martin Briggs said: “We have a well established training programme designed to teach youngsters to develop musical skills and play a brass instrument at minimal cost. They benefit from the self-discipline necessary to be a member of a band and have a lot of fun into the bargain.”
