Academy work landmark

SKEGNESS Academy’s ambitious refurbishment and construction plans are close to reaching a major milestone.

Phase one of the project is almost complete.

The work is now into its 24th week, and the new learning resource centre, ICT room, changing rooms, science labs, staff room, dining hall and bistro are all almost finished.

Kelvin Hornsby, the principal of Skegness Academy, said: “Parts of phase one that have already been completed are quite simply stunning, with students and staff already having had a glimpse of what will be on offer in January.

“The new facilities are second-to-none and do inspire all of those who work within the academy environment.

“Standards have risen so rapidly and will continue to do so as the significantly improved facilities come on line.

“The team ethos that exists at the academy makes it a very special place to study and work and the new facilities simply contribute to this further.

“For a project like this to be successful all of those involved have to be flexible and operate with the single thought that whatever needs to be done is in the best interests of the children within the Academy.

“Academy staff and Balfour Beatty, the building contractors, have worked in harmony to ensure that students at the academy not only receive the best possible standard of education but for it to take place in the highest quality learning environment.”
