A PRIVATE sector company could take over the refuse service operated by East Lindsey District Council after 2013.

At a meeting of the executive board, portfolio holder Coun Brian Burnett said outsourcing would be one of the opptions when the current in-house contract expires two years’ hence.

He told colleagues: “At present we are locked into an expensive maintenance contract - over the long term, major savings could be made.”

In the meantime, the board is keen to save money by further reducing the period of the year during which it collects green waste, but there will be no changes during the rest of the current municipal year which finishes at the end of March.
