Drug dealer caught near Skegness with stash of crack cocaine and heroin jailed for 40 months

A drug dealer was caught with a stash of crack cocaine and heroin when he was stopped by police near to Skegness, Lincoln Crown Court was told today (Tuesday).

Scott Cheetham was the driver of the Volvo car which was pulled over by officers on Gunby Road, Orby in July last year.

Phil Howes, prosecuting, said that the officers spotted a package in the glove compartment of the vehicle and as a result they arrested Cheetham.

Officers found 56 wraps of crack cocaine together with 39 wraps of heroin together with a small amount of ketamine.

The court was told that Cheetham had convictions for 29 previous offences and in 2009 received a six year jail sentence his part in the knifepoint robbery of a shop.

Cheetham, 39, of no fixed address but originally from the Sheffield area, admitted two charges of possessing drugs with intent to supply on 9 July 2016 and a charge of possession of ketamine. He was jailed for 40 months.

Neil Sands, in mitigation, told the court “This is a man who has his own drugs problems and his own history. His previous convictions are in some way or other all drug-related.

“Since being in custody he has gone through a complete detoxification. There is hope for him at the end of the tunnel. He is taking positive steps so that this is the end of his offending career.”
