Royal Mail has denied there has been a walk out or industrial action today (Thursday), saying disruption to post services around the town has been due to a ‘high level of sickness absence’.
A spokesman for Royal Mail promised that the staff which were left were working hard to ensure mail was being delivered.
Ronit Wolfson, Royal Mail spokesman, said: “There has been no walk out or industrial action at Royal Mail’s Spilsby delivery office today.
“Due to a high level of sickness absence, there may be minor delays for some customers, but staff are working hard to ensure that we deliver all the mail as quickly as possible.”
Several members of the public contacted The Standard this morning following speculation around the town that staff had walked out – meaning post had not been delivered to businesses and residents.
