A TEEN arrested by police at the weekend in connection with an ‘armed’ robbery has been released after the force eliminated him from their enquiries.
The news comes as police released new CCTV images of their suspect.
The robbery occured at the Spilsby Jewellers in the High Street on Saturday (September 17) at around 10am.
The thief claimed to have a gun, and witnesses at the scene have described seeing him holding what appeared to be a “black hand gun”.
He is believed to have escaped with a number of rings.
A police spokesperson said: “When the man went into the jewellers shop on High Street, Spilsby he claimed to have a gun.
“It is believed that he left the shop with a number of rings.
“He ran from the shop and some members of the public were threatened with what appeared to be a black hand-gun as he made his escape,” they added.
“It is believed that, prior to the offence, the offender walked into Spilsby town centre via Boston Road.
“Afterwards, he ran from the scene across the car parks in the market place and may have made his way through gardens in the Dennett Close and Ancaster Avenue areas before crossing the playing fields and gardens in the area of Winston Road.
“Local residents are being asked to check their gardens for any items of discarded clothing or property, especially a dark rucksack.”
No-one was injured but a woman shop worker was shaken by the incident.
The offender is described as a white man, aged 18 to 20 years, 6’0” to 6’1” tall and of slim athletic build.
He was wearing a hooded top with horizontal stripes, blue jeans, white trainers, a black scarf covered his face and he wore a white baseball cap under his hood which was up.
He had a black rucksack with him.
