An elite racing cycle like those used by Lance Armstrong’s Tour de France team has been stolen from a house in Toynton All Saints.

The Trek Madone 5.2, with Team Discovery decals, was one of three bikes taken from the garage of the property on Boston Road.

The distinctive blue carbon fibre bike with Garmin Edge 500 computer, worth about £2,500 new, had been used to compete in a number of triathlons by owner Justin Gatenby.

It was stolen along with a black and white Trek 1200 bike and new white Boardman MTB comp mountain bike between Thursday and Friday last week. A chainsaw was also taken.

Justin had purchased the £650 Boardman mountain bike last week as a present for his birthday.

He said: “The Trek Madone Discovery has non- standard forks and is one of a kind. Whoever took the bikes knew what they were doing and walked past several kids and old cycles to get to the expensive ones.”

Anyone with information about the theft should call Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 156 of May 16.
