Three people have been arrested near Swaby between Ulceby Cross and Louth after a ‘stolen’ vehicle from Derbyshire ‘made off at speed’ when spotted by Lincolnshire Police officers earlier today.
Police said automatic number plate recognition staff (ANPR) on the force had spotted the vehicle entering Lincolnshire and road policing units (RPU) from Lincoln and Boston were “deployed to intercept it”.
“The vehicle was spotted near Louth by Lincoln RPU,” said a police spokesperson. “It failed to stop and made off at speed.
“RPU officers followed the vehicle down the A16.
“Excellent teamwork by highly trained Lincoln RPU resulted in the vehicle being safely stopped and all occupants arrested near Swaby village.
“Three persons were arrested from the vehicle and are helping police with their enquiries. No-one was hurt and the incident was resolved safely.
“It’s a brilliant example of teamwork by all Lincolnshire Police officers involved and excellent work by Lincoln RPU, Boston RPU and ANPR,” they added.
