Thieves steal cigarettes in night-time raid at Ulecby Cross petrol station

Police have appealed for information and witnesses after thieves raided the Ulceby Cross service station near Alford.

The alarm was activated shortly before 1am on Saturday, January 4 after the offenders broke into premises through a window and stole a quantity of cigarettes, before making off in a vehicle.

Officers attended the scene, supported by a police helicopter, and a Vauxhall Corsa was later stopped in Market Rasen following the deployment of a stinger device.

“A 22-year-old man from South Yorkshire was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on bail,” said a police spokesperson.

The spokesperosn added that a number of people may have been involved in the burglary and officers are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
