Spate of thefts spark Lincolnshire tractor security plea

Police have urged farmers to review their tractor security after a spate of thefts from farms in the south of the county.

Thieves have been targeting ‘Star Fire’ satellite receivers that are attached to John Deere tractors, and are valued at over £10,000.

Community Policing Inspector Jim Tyner said: “This is a new offence for us. These are an unusual and specific pieces of equipment and I would ask people to be on the lookout for these being sold”.

Thefts have occurred at farms as far afield as Deeping St Nicholas, Moulton Eaugate and Sutton Bridge.

Farmers are urged to review their tractor security arragements and encouraged to seek advice from their local Crime Reduction Officer or from the NFU.
