Skegness shoppers urged to be vigilant after number of handbag thefts reported over the weekend

Residents are being urged to be vigilant while shopping after a number of thefts from handbags have been reported.

Over the weekend offender(s) have dipped into handbags left open whilst their owners have been shopping said Lincolnshire Police.

“A typical example is from a handbag left open on a shopping trolley, and the purse/mobile phone could be stolen whilst the owner is shopping,” said a police spokesperson.

“This is an opportunistic crime and keeping handbags and their contents secure will prevent the opportunity for the offender to commit the theft,” they added.

If anyone witnesses any suspicious activity please contact police on 101.
