A 22-YEAR-old man diverted electricity around the meter at his home, Skegness Magistrates’ Court has heard.
Blane Wheddon-Burnard of North Lane, Swaby, admitted dishonestly using £432 worth of electricity without due authority at his then home in Sausthorpe, Spilsby.
Jim Clare, prosecuting, said a meter fraud investigator went to the house on November 30 last year and found that a cable had been connected to divert electricity around the meter and Wheddon-Burnard admitted that he had been doing it for around six weeks.
He told District Judge John Stobart that he couldn’t afford the electricity to keep the house, which had a pipe leak, warm and dry.
The judge imposed a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered he pay £432 in compensation.
