A man who broke restrictions by parking illegally overnight at Huttoft Car Terrace has been ordered to pay a total of £800.

Alexander Sprott, 33, of Ascot Drive, in Grantham, appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Thursday), was found guilty of two offences of contravening Lincolnshire County Council byelaw in relation to overnight parking at the terrace on May 11 and July 5 last year.

Lincolnshire County Council has introduced byelaws to restrict overnight parking in response to complaints from local residents.

Mr Sprott was fined £150 for each offence and he was ordered to pay £500 costs to the council.

Chief Operating Officer for Lincolnshire County Council Steve Willis said: “We issued proceedings against several individuals to enforce the coastal byelaws and the restrictions on unauthorised overnight parking. We are pleased that the Court has found that Mr Sprott has breached the byelaws and has imposed an appropriate sanction.

“We hope that this sentence will send a clear message that the Council will take action to enforce these byelaws and that the Court will impose financial penalties if they are breached.

“We’ll continue to monitor the situation at the six coastal car parks covered by the byelaws to ensure that the facilities are not being abused by people parking overnight.”
