A man has been arrested for affray and threats to kill following a domestic disturbance in Spilsby.
Police were called to a house in the Newtown area of the town at around 11.15pm yesterday (Sunday), but a man prevented them entering the property where a woman and nine year-old boy were also inside.
Trained negotiators and specialist response teams attended the scene, along with other emergency services including Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and East Midlands Ambulance Service.
Shortly after midnight, the woman and the child were taken to safety via a ladder from an upstairs window.
The man voluntarily left the address at 2.30am and was arrested for affray and threats to kill. He remains in police custody.
Chief Inspector Jim Tyner said: “Although this incident happened quite late at night, the local community will have been aware of a significant police presence in the street and I’m sure this may have caused some alarm amongst residents. Our priority is always to achieve a safe resolution without injury to officers or the public and fortunately that has been the case in this instance. Residents that are concerned about this incident can speak with officers on patrol in the area.”
