Jewellers targeted in suspected armed robbery in Skegness

POLICE in Skegness have issued an urgent appeal for information after a suspected armed robbery in the town on Friday morning.

The robber targeted the Gold n’ Gifts store on Lumley Road shortly before 10am.

He entered the jewellers on Lumley Road and stole a large quantity of gold chains of “significant value”.

A police spokesperson said: “ He demanded his holdall be filled with gold chains.

“The man had what appeared to be a gun sticking out the waistband of his grey jogging bottoms.

“He is thought to be in his 20s and had no discernable accent. The man made off with a large quantity of gold chains of significant value.

“As he left the Gold n’ Gifts store on Lumley Road he headed in the direction of the HSBC bank before it appeared he went on to Lumley Avenue,” they added.

The man is described as white, of large, muscular build and about 6ft or taller. He was wearing a grey hooded top and sunglasses and carried a large black holdall.

Before entering the store, the suspect is believed to have walked along Wainfleet Road and across the taxi rank at Lumley Square.

A staff member was left shaken but nobody was hurt.
