Drug driver from Chapel St Leonards had no insurance

When police stopped a car whose driver was recorded as having no insurance, they found the driver smelling of cannabis, a court has been told.

Charlie George Patrick, 24, of Buckingham Drive, Chapel St Leonards, admitted driving under the influence of cannabis, possessing cannabis and having no insurance or a valid driving licence, when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court.

Prosecuting, Marie Stace said he was stopped in the Hyundai on Roman Bank in Skegness at 2.40pm on June 19 and provided a positive drugs wipe which showed a measurement of seven microgrammes of cannabis in his bloodstream, the legal limit being two.

She said he also produced a cannabis spliff which was in the car and admitted he did not have a valid licence nor insurance.

He was banned from driving for a year and fined a total of £240 and ordered to pay £115 in court costs and charges.
