A car is pictured in a ball of fire after being set alight in a suspected arson attack in Skegness this morning (Monday).

Colin Ross took the photo of his wife Dee’s car which was parked outside the couple’s home on the town’s Meadows estate.

The blue Renault Clio was completely destroyed in the blaze, which took place between 1.30 and 2.30 am.

Colin said: “We were asleep and our daughter Shanice was doing her college work when she smelt burning.

“At first she thought the laptop was over heating and then it was something in the kitchen before she saw light through the window.

He added: “We went out of the back door and the car was totally engulfed by flames. The fire brigade did a fantastic job and stopped it spreading to protect my car while putting out the fire. The heat was so great it melted wheelie bins standing nearby.”

“It looks like the rear window was smashed and a light thrown in.”

The car was a replacement after a vehicle driven by senior care worker Dee was involved in a collision two weeks ago.

Anyone with information should contact Skegness Police on 101 quoting incident number 52 of May 25.
