Brian Pilgrim and Betty Whiley tied the knot among friends, residents, and staff at the Broadfield Lane centre.

The pair met in May last year in a coffee shop, introduced through a mutual friend.

With Brian and Betty hitting it off almost straight away they haven’t looked back since and are excited for what is to come.

Brian is 81 and considers himself to be a proper Bostonian as he has lived and worked in Boston since birth.

He has previously been married but lost his wife 15 years ago, and believed that he wouldn’t marry again.

Betty has also been married before, but has been single since 1980. Since their first meeting, both residents are constantly smiling and couldn’t be happier than when in each other’s company.

After only meeting last year, on Christmas Day Brian plucked up the courage and proposed to Betty in the dining room at Mayfields to which she happily said yes.

Brian’s brother Ian Pilgrim was best man at the wedding, but aside from Ian, the rest of the wedding congregation was made up of friends, fellow residents, and staff.

Betty was born in Leicester, and moved to Skegness around the age of 12 and lived and worked there for many years. Betty asked that it should be Lincolnshire produced food only served at the wedding reception, to honour their heritage.

Speaking after the wedding, Brian said: “Everything went really well, we are both very pleased and everything fell into place nicely.”
