Councillors voted in favour of a 2.94 per cent tax rise last night (Monday) as part of the authority's budget for the next financial year.

The rise will be the first in six years and will see the average Band D property’s tax increase to £173.34.

Councillors in favour of the rise said it was a hard decision but one which ‘had’ to be made by the council - with a ‘challenging few years’ ahead to 2021.
