Police have reassured residents and visitors to Skegness after two unrelated incidents in the town involving knives.

A 21-year-old woman spotted walking round Skegness with a knife in the early hours of yesterday morning was arrested for possession of bladed article and received a formal caution.

On Wednesday, officers were called to a disturbance involving a man and a woman near the entrance of Tower Gardens. The man was arrested and charged with possession of a bladed article.

Yesterday, Chief Insp Jim Tyner tweeted “Officers faced this last night. @SkegnessPolice working hard to keep us all #SummerSafe”

He said: “It is unusual to have two knife-related incidents in such a short space of time.

“Most people living, working or holidaying in Skegness would have been unaffected by these incidents.

“But they do illustrate the risks my officers face in keeping our community safe.”
