With latest figures showing the number of people claiming Jobseekers allowance throughout East Lindsey is more than 20 per cent down, events like our annual Jobs Fairs are still as important as ever, writes Coun Doreen Stephenson, leader of East Lindsey District Council.
We have once again teamed up with Jobcentre Plus to host events in Mablethorpe and Skegness showcasing just some of the jobs on offer locally ahead of the main tourism season.
Although both coastal towns traditionally rely heavily on seasonal jobs, many of the employers attending these events are offering permanent, all-year-round jobs – something that is very important in these areas. There will be a mixture of full and part-time vacancies on offer.
Employers already confirmed include a mixture of local and national names such as Haven, Park Resorts, the Dunes Complex, Louth Hotel, The Beck, Housing 21, Hica Home Care, Linkage, Clip, Butlins, Forever, Dolphin Restaurant, ELDC, Avon, Boots, McDonalds, Fresh Fitness, Cucina Sano, Ambitions Personnel, Allways Care, Coastfield Leisure, Clarriots Home Care, AF Blakemore and Flippers. And, there will be job opportunities promoted within the NHS, RAF and Army.
The events will also provide information from training providers for those who feel they are not ready to take the step into work yet. And, there will be information on local volunteering opportunities for those who want some experience for their CVs.
These events will be the perfect opportunity to see what is on offer right on your doorstep, for both employed and unemployed people. We would welcome anyone who wants to pop along for advice or just to see what opportunities are available to them.
The Mablethorpe Jobs Fair will take place at Mablethorpe Community Hall on Friday, February 20, between 10.30am-2.30pm, and the Skegness Jobs Fair will take place at the Embassy Theatre on Wednesday, February 25, between 10.30am-2.30pm.
