COLUMN: Butterfly Hospice now recruiting

This week’s guest column comes from Natalie McKee, matron for Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust...

It’s been just over a month since the exciting announcement that Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) will be working in partnership with the Butterfly Hospice Trust to open the inpatient unit in Boston.

Firstly, on behalf of both organisations, can I say thank you to everyone for their kind messages and support. The team at the hospice have received numerous calls from well-wishers and those interested in being a part of the service.

We have all been very busy behind the scenes since the contract was awarded and we will be keeping up that momentum in the coming weeks ahead of opening to patients later this summer.

LCHS already has teams working with hundreds of patients every day in Boston, Skegness and across the whole of Lincolnshire, from the community Macmillan team, community nurses, specialist nursing services and the GP Out of Hours Service, through to therapy services, school nurses and health visitors.

Staff recruitment for the Butterfly Hospice is well under way and some of you may have seen posts advertised for both clinical and support staff positions.

Last week, we welcomed prospective nursing staff to an open day at the Butterfly Hospice where we had an opportunity to show people round the lovely facilities, share our vision and answer any questions they might have about the service.

It was a very positive day and it was wonderful to see such passion, enthusiasm and dedication to providing high quality care for patients.

Further opportunities will be available shortly. Please see the NHS Jobs website for clinical-related vacancies and the Butterfly Hospice Trust website,, for support staff and volunteer vacancies.

We look forward to sharing more information about this exciting new service in the coming weeks.
