A Chapel St Leonards mother fears a ‘three day’ major road closure will cause ‘chaos’ for commuters and the community.

The A52 will be closed for highway works next week from Monday until Wednesday which Julie Rhodes says will cut off major towns such as Louth, Chapel and Anderby, among others.

“It was cause a lot of disruption and I don’t know how many daughter is going to get to sixth form as the buses aren’t running all the way, only to Ingoldmells, it will be total chaos,” she said.

Bus operator Stagecoach East Midlands received notification of the closure from Lincolnshire County Council and has made arrangements for a limited number of scheduled buses to pass through the site.

Dave Skepper, commercial director for Stagecoach East Midlands, said it will allow the company to operate a ‘much reduced bus service’ to and from Chapel St Leonards.

“No vehicles other than buses will be allowed through the works,” he said.

We cannot run buses via the diversionary route on the narrow back roads because the substantial increase of traffic, which may include other large vehicles, will make it difficult to negotiate along certain stretches.”

Lincolnshire County Council highways officers have agreed that every two hours on Monday and Tuesday buses can run through the works in both directions to provide a limited service for Chapel St Leonards.

“However, on Wednesday there will be a full closure, which will effectively suspend the bus service. Other bus services will be diverted during the works. We have issued a leaflet, which is on buses in the Skegness area, and put details on our website at,” he explained.

“We are very sorry for the disruption to bus services that will be caused for our customers during the works but unfortunately the road closure is beyond our control,” he added.

Lincolnshire County Council have been contacted for a statement.
