Swimming classes are being held for children at district council run leisure facilties in East Lindsey.

With swimming now part of the National Curriculum in primary schools, all key stage one and two pupils will, at some stage, take part in swimming lessons.

Waterwise Swimming course at one of East Lindsey District Council’s leisure centres in Louth, Skegness or Horncastle aim give children a head start and feel more confident when attending swimming lessons with their school.

The 10 week courses are taught by ASA level 2 qualified swimming teachers. They cost £45 for the block of 10 lessons (or £36 for concessions). To enrol, children must be four years old before or during the course.

The half hour sessions take place during the following times:

* Horncastle Swimming pool - Mondays 4-6pm, Wednesdays 4-5pm, Fridays 4-5.30pm and Saturdays 9-10.30am.

* Meridian Leisure Centre, Louth - Mondays 4-6pm, Tuesdays 4-6pm, Wednesdays 4-6pm, Fridays 4-6pm and Saturdays 8.30am-1pm.

* Embassy Swimming Pool, Skegness – Tuesdays 4.30-6pm, Thursdays 4.30-6pm, Saturdays 8.30-10am and 3-4pm.

For more experienced swimmers, the leisure centres also run Rookie Lifeguard courses and Survive and Save courses which lead to the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
