In true party spirit, this year’s Skegness Illuminations Switch On will bring some of hottest names, energetic dance routines and fireworks to Skegness this Saturday.
Organisers have once again promised visitors a big night and some of the best entertainment this year from 1pm - 10pm.
There will be celebrity stars, including Chico famous for that song, What time is it? It’s Chico time, who was due to perform last year but was forced to pull out due to other commitments, talented performers, spectacular light displays and more will feature in this year’s action packed programme on the night of the big switch on of the lights.
For the past couple of years, the Switch On event has moved out of the shadow of the SO Festival and been brought back as a major event in its own right.
Key organisations in the town including Skegness East Coast and Wolds Hospitality Association (SECHWA), stepped in to run it and again this year.
The event is a free event for the whole family to enjoy an it will be compered by Skegness’s own Stefan Michaels.
“The Butlin’s Redcoats will kick off the show with their ever popular Red Coat party dances, Billy Bear will be making an appearance along with a few other well known local mascots joining in, in front of the stage,” said Tammy Jones for SECHWA.
“We have live music from local band Monro and a bit of rock ‘n roll from 3 Parts Cut. The Janice Sutton dancers will be putting on a fantastic show with their talented dancers and will also accompany Chico as he struts his stuff to the Time Warp, Chico Time and other lively favourites,” Tammy added.
The Taiko Drummers are also back by ‘popular demand’ along with the ‘amazingly talented’ local street dance crew Top Limitz.
At 9pm Skegness Mayor coun Jim Carpenter is set to give a short speech before the night will culminate in the big red button being pushed, with an atmospheric count down plus a ‘truly amazing’ fireworks display.
