Chapel St Leonards is gearing up for a carnival that is ‘bigger and better than ever’.
The event this weekend promises all the glamour and extravaganza of a ‘Weekend at the Movies’.
The fun starts with a pre-carnival disco party on Thursday at the Grange in Ancaster Avenue, Chapel St Leonards, where the Carnival Queen and Princess competition will be judged.
Entries are welcome ahead of judging at 7pm and there is also a disco by Dave Hannan and music by live vocalist Sammy. There will also be prizes for the best dressed movie star.
Carnival day is on Saturday from 10am, and promises a spectacular show of stage and stalls, with entertainment on the village green. There will also be beach games and sandcastle competitions at 11am, a baby show at the Vine Hotel at 12.30pm, and a Children’s Party and Magic Show at the village hall at 2.30pm.
The fun continues on Sunday with more entertainment at the village green and a craft fair at the village hall.
Judging of the Grand Carnival Parade is at 11.30am and the Parade will set off from Trunch Lane at noon. The procession of floats plus the Ambassador Showband and the Skegness Junior Marching band will make its way into the village and down Ancaster Avenue to the Phoenix Care Centre, where a dog show will start at 2pm. Registration for this is on the village green on the Saturday or on the Sunday morning at the Phoenix show ground.
Visitors are also invited to look out for the new Town Crier and Cruella De-Ville, Party Chums and the Gymnastics Club For more details visit www.cslcarnival.org.uk
