Many dream of a date with a man or woman in uniform, now it’s possible 365 days a year thanks to a charity calendar featuring Skegness firefighters.
The 2015 calendar features the crew in a series of light-hearted mock-ups promoting fire safety.
BlueWatch member Dan Vines came up the idea for the calendar which is raising money for the The Fire Fighters Charity and Brain Tumour UK.
Dan’s sister Becky is being treated for a brain tumour at Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield and he wanted to fundraise for the charity which helps sufferers.
Mum of one Becky, 29, was first diagnosed with cancer in 2006 and had amazed doctors with her recovery before the disease returned last year.
Dan, 30, makes a number of appearances in the calendar, which features a series of comical scenes including a romantic Valentine’s Night ruined by burnt cooking and a smoker dosed by a fire hose.
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Community Fire Safety Department funded the calendar to help promote fire safety and raise money for two worthwhile causes,
Dan said: “I’d like to thank the local firefighters who have helped in the photos as well as members of the public who have allowed us to use their houses for some of the photos. I’d also like to thank Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue for their support.”
He added: “So far the calendar has been very successful and has received really good feedback from the general public. I’m hoping to make this an annual thing and keep raising awareness and money for these charities.”
The calendar is promoting the fire safety message connected to national campaigns including electrical fire safety and smoking in the home.
It can be purchased, priced £5, from Skegness Fire Station on Churchill Avenue or Allsorts gift shop on Lumley Road . All proceeds will be split between the two charities.
