Round two of a grants scheme has opened up and workshops are taking place across the district to help those who want to apply.

The district council’s grant scheme awards up to £8,000 to formally governed, not for profit organisations and town and parish councils towards community projects which will benefit East Lindsey.

The grants can be used to fund a variety of activities including projects that focus on Community Facilities, Sports and Recreation, Arts and Heritage and the Environment.

There is approximately £60,000 available to be awarded during round two of the Community Grants Scheme which has an application deadline of August 15, 2013. The funds will be awarded by the Community Grants Panel on October 2, 2013 for projects to start after this date.

Councillor Sandra Harrison, portfolio holder for communities, said: “This money is available for community groups and town and parish councils. It can provide a boost to deliver a new project in your town or village, or build on an existing project or event. I would recommend anyone interested in the grants to pop along to one of the workshops to find out just how you could benefit and get some tips on applying. Over recent years we have seen some fantastic projects and experienced some amazing community involvement supported by the Grant Scheme.”

To support groups wishing to apply for a grant, a series of workshops are being held across the district over the coming weeks. Potential applicants are recommended to attend one of these events as they provide a valuable insight into the scheme and help groups to make a successful application.

The workshops will take place as follows:

Louth, July 16, 7-8.30pm at the London Road Sports Pavilion

North Somercotes, July 17, 7-8.30pm at North Somercotes Village Hall

Skegness, July 18, 7-8.30pm at St Matthew’s Church, Lumley Avenue

Horncastle, July 23, 7-8.30pm at Horncastle Sports Pavilion, Coronation Walk

Groups wishing to attend one of these workshops are asked to register their interest by contacting the Community Grants Team on 01507 613040 or by emailing as venues, dates and times can be amended dependent up on interest.
