The fourth annual Wainfleet Sleigh Day will take place on Saturday, December 7 - and the organisers have teamed up with the Standard to offer one of our readers a fabulous prize of a Kindle Fire HD tablet to celebrate.

The event is run by Wainfleet Events Promotion Group, a non-profit making community group, and they’ve a host of activities lined up for this year’s festivities.

These include Santa’s Grotto at the Royal Oak pub, a Victorian Christmas Market in Barkham Street and indoor stalls at the Coronation Hall.

There will also be the ever-popular “Santa’s Parade”, which will include Santa’s Sleigh, other floats and vintage fire engines.

And those attending will also get the chance to enjoy music throughout the day in the Market Place, with performers set to include the Skegness Silver Band and other local bands.

The day starts at 11am, with Santa’s Grotto open from midday to 3pm and the Christmas Sleigh Day Parade set to run from 4pm.

There will then be a carol service and speeches at 4.45pm, followed by the Grand Prize Draw where winners from the raffle and the Standard’s special competition will be announced.

Chairman of the Wainfleet Events Promotion Group, Pete Cobley (local PCSO), said: “We are looking forward to this year’s event. It will be the biggest yet.

“There are many activities and different types of entertainment for all of the family.

“We are very proud that lots of local people have given up their time to help this year’s event be a success,” he added.
