Record year for shopping centre

The Hildreds Shopping Centre in Skegness is celebrating record visitor figures in 2014.

The centre attracted 4,112,952 shoppers to the centre last year, a five per cent increase in footfall compared to 2013.

This equates to around 318,000 more visitors to The Hildreds in 2014 compared to the British Retail Consortium (BRC) national average of -0.8 per cent.

The Hildreds is best known for the impressive displays it puts on during the festive season, all handmade by centre manager, Steve Andrews, and the figures released show that the months of hard work are worth it.

Steve said: “We had just under 603,000 visitors over the Christmas period, an increase of 4.6 per cent year on year. Sales for the year were also up by 6.4 per cent across the centre.”

“These figures show how popular the Hildreds is in Skegness and within the region, attracting a huge number of people from outside the area to shop and to enjoy what the town as a whole has to offer.

“Even in the out of season period, October to March, the Hildreds had 1,648,000 visitors which shows that Skegness is a viable, thriving centre all year round. The Hildreds prides itself in offering a great customer experience with unique events and promotions that cannot be found anywhere else in the country.”
