Radio station to hit the road with Funk Bus

The Funk Bus was developed by East Lindsey District Council on the back of a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to reach out to children who did not have access to a youth centre.

Now, after a long period out of use, it has been gifted to County Linx Radio, a community radio station founded two years ago, based at Irby in the Marsh.

Coun William Gray, portfolio holder for communities at the district council, said: “We considered alternative uses for the former Funk Bus, but its design and layout meant it was only really suitable for a small number of things.

“We were delighted to be approached by Community Linx Radio, which has an ambition to its work further into the community. The bus will help it achieve that.”

Andrew Ayers, co-founder and chairman of the station, said: “Through the generous donation of this bus by the council, we will attend many civic and local community events and even broadcast on our radio station directly from the bus.”
