INGOLDMELLS is set to echo to the sounds of motorbike engines this weekend when the beach plays host to a major motocross event.
The BXUK QRA Joe’s Bar Goldrush Beach Cross weekend will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, and organisers believe this year’s event will go down a treat with racing enthusiasts and casual audiences alike.
“The racing will be intense and spectators can get close to the action from the promenade, with not only racing to keep them entertained but all that this popular, thriving holiday resort has to offer,” said event director, Tony Nash.
“The event attracts riders of all abilities and many newcomers are heading to Ingoldmells this year along with last year’s Goldrush winner and reigning MCF BXUK British Beach Cross MX Champion, Arnaud Degousee.
“The Frenchman is someone to watch (and beat) along with nine times Dakar competitor Eric Croquelois.
“Brit Ali Davies is also hoping to push for points along with other Brits from across the UK,” he added.
A wide array of racing classes will be taking place on the day, including the Pro and National Adult Solo Motorcoss and Pro and National Adult Quad and Elite Youth Quad (12-16).
If there are enough entries there will also be a separate Mini Bike event on the Saturday evening.
The weekend also counts as rounds three and four of the British Beach Cross Championship, with rounds five and six set to be held at Ramsgate main beach in Kent in October.
After class qualification in the morning, each class will ride three rides per day.
In the Quad class the field is headed by Frenchman Jérome Bricheux and Belgian ace Auke Theuninck, as well as many Brits - including last year’s top three of Luke Brown, Paul Bennett and Laurence Stopps plus in-form James Fletcher.
A number of noted female riders, including Katie Hodgson and Jade Pole, will also take part.
