Christmas may still be a little way off but details have alread begun to emerge about Skegness’s plans for the festive season.
The switch-on spectacular and various events around the Hildreds Centre are swiftly taking shape as advent grows near.
Thursday, November 29 has been confirmed as the date for this year’s festive lights switch-on.
The hugely popular event, which sees most of the town turn out en masse will also feature the traditional parade from Santa and his reindeer.
The theme of the Hildreds Centre’s hugely popular and eye-catching festive displays , meanwhile, will be ‘Santa and the Christmas Chocolate Factory’.
Deputy centre manager Steve Andrews has already begun work on his latest dazzling creations.
The grotto will once again be the three-storey high castle, but this year it will be covered in lolly-pops, love heart sweets, smarties, candy canes and liqourice, and the top ‘floor’ will feature the great glass elevator from Roald Dahl’s famous book. The centre will also feature its own take on the Umpalumpas.
Other festive activities lined-up include a visit from live reindeer on December 6, the popular Victorian Christmas market on December 8 & 9, a visit from magicians and wizards on December 13, and a live nativity parade on December 20. Keep checking the Standard for more updates.
