A jewellers in Skegness is to close its doors for a final time after trading in the town since 1937.

J Samuels, a name that has become synonymous with shoppers in Skegness is to re-locate to London with the family of David Samuels and will continue to operate as internet firm www.coolrocks.co.uk.

The family first opened for business in Skegness when David’s grandfather, the late Jack Samuels, opened a store on Lumley Road.

The business was then inherited by David’s father, Philip, moving the short distance across the road, to 100 Lumley Road; adjoining Skegness High Street in 1997, with help from David’s uncle, Gerald Samuels.

Having lived in London with his family for a number of years, David thought it was the right time to relocate and move the business in a different direction.

Speaking on behalf of the Samuels family, David said: “After so many successful and enjoyable years in Skegness, we will miss the banter with all our regular customers.

“We would like to thank them for all the support over the years and we hope whoever takes over our premises will be equally as successful.”

A final sale, with items heavily discounted has already begun in earnest and will bring to an end the Jeweller’s relationship of over three quarters of a century trading in the Town.
