The boss of an Alford based egg producer has beaten off stiff competition to reach the final of the Farmers Weekly Awards.
LJ Fairburn managing director Daniel Fairburn is one of the final three chosen in the Poultry Farmer of the Year category.
Hundreds of entries were scrutinised and critiqued, with the finalists announced for all 15 categories of the awards this week.
Now the judging teams will be trekking up and down the country to meet each of the 45 finalists, with the winners of each category revealed at a glittering ceremony in London on October 1.
Daniel said the award was a tribute to the ‘drive and determination’ of the family owned firm’s 175 staff members who ‘take pride in producing a product to the very highest of welfare and quality standards’.
He added: “I am ecstatic to be an award finalist and to be representing the British egg laying industry.
“Recognition in these awards is a tremendous achievement and a real opportunity for farmers like me to celebrate and share the fantastic work that we all do on a daily basis.”
